Time for president to be a leader

I agree with almost everything President Trump said in his speech in the aftermath of the deadly weekend we've just witnessed.

He urged us to condemn hatred in all its forms and called for more emphasis on mental illness. He called for better gun control. I agree with him, but does that mean he is ready to scale back his hateful rhetoric?

Does it mean he is ready listen to and discuss opposing views in a respectful manner? Does it mean he will stop referring to those with opposing views as low IQs? I certainly hope so.

He is president of The United States, which means he represents all of its citizens, not just those who agree with him. Now is the time to step up and lead, not intimidate. Do all those things he is urging us to do and I will applaud.
