Nerheim plans announcement about JUUL Labs
Lake County State's Attorney Michael G. Nerheim plans an announcement Tuesday involving JUUL Labs, one of the top manufacturers of e-cigarettes and vapes in the country.
Nerheim has called a news conference about JUUL Labs scheduled at Daniel Wright Junior High in Lincolnshire Tuesday afternoon.
The news conference will include a Lake County High School student and attorneys from the Chicago-based personal injury and accident law firm Romanucci and Blandin, LLC.
A spokesman for Nerheim declined to comment further. Romanucci and Blandin did not return phone calls seeking comment.
JUUL, based in San Francisco, bills itself as a smoking alternative that helps people stop using cigarettes.
But in May, North Carolina took legal action against Juul Labs. The North Carolina suit alleges JUUL caused addiction in consumers by "deceptively downplaying the potency and danger of the nicotine." The suit also claims the company used advertising campaigns that targeted people under the legal smoking age.
