Fifth annual 'Chip In For Hunger' golf outing Sept. 13 to benefit Food For Greater Elgin

Food For Greater Elgin will be hosting its fifth annual "Chip In For Hunger" fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 13, at the Golf Club of Illinois, 1575 Edgewood Drive in Algonquin.

It will begin with check-in at 10 a.m. and shotgun start at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m. with cocktails at 4 p.m.

The community is invited to join in a day of golf, food and fun. It is a great opportunity to support an organization that provides access to food and resources to your neighbors every day.

Food For Greater Elgin is a regional, guest-choice food pantry servicing more than 1,200 households monthly. Shoppers can select meat, fresh produce, dairy, deli, and shelf-stable items during their visits. It has been an invaluable resource for many in the Elgin, South Elgin, East Dundee and West Dundee areas.

Tickets are $120 each and can be purchased at www.foodforgreaterelgin.org/events/chipinforhunger/.

All proceeds will benefit Food For Greater Elgin, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Food for Greater Elgin would like to extend special thanks to some of the generous event sponsors: The Schrieber Group, Concept 3, Mueller, Heritage-Crystal Clean, Liberty Creative Solutions, Hopp Accounting and Tax, and the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club.

Founded in 2011, Food For Greater Elgin is the second largest food pantry in Kane County. Its goal is to combat food insecurity in the most effective and supportive ways possible by giving our community the resources it needs.

Every week, Food For Greater Elgin hosts client-choice distributions offering both day and evening shifts for our clients' convenience. This style of food distribution has been proven to lower waste while preserving the dignity of clients.

Shoppers can receive food twice monthly, and may choose from a variety of products, including meat, fresh produce, dairy, deli, and shelf-stable items, and are assisted by volunteers during the shopping process.

In collaboration with other organizations and businesses, the Community Resource Center provides our clients with the necessary additional services and resources that address any other issues contributing to food insecurity.
