The new 'New Colossus'

"The New Colossus" is a poem inscribed on a plaque in the Statue of Liberty's Museum. The last lines of the poem are the most memorable: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Since the sentiments of the poem no longer reflect the policies and practices of the United States under the Trump administration, I suggest changing the inscription on the plaque to more accurately reflect the current situation. I reluctantly suggest the following changes: "Give me your wealthy, your educated, your skilled white entrepreneurs yearning to make big bucks. We have no room for your tired, your poor and your huddled masses. No compassion for your oppressed, your abused, and your asylum-seekers. I lift my lamp and build a wall beside the golden door to keep your wretched refuse on your teeming shore."
