School supplies available for needy families

Antioch Traveling Closet, Antioch Area Health Accessibility Alliance and Rosalind Franklin University Health System are joining in a school services and supplies giveaway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Antioch Senior Center, 817 Holbeck Drive. Struggling families can pick out clothing, shoes, school supplies, toiletries and cleaning supplies at no charge. Several hair stylists have volunteered their services to free haircuts. Referrals to health care providers and partner organizations regarding housing, food, in-home assistance, or other needed services will be available. Free blood pressure readings, blood sugar and cholesterol screenings and free sports physicals for children returning to school will be offered. Call Stephanie Young, (847) 395-2809.
