U.S. women's championship soccer team to play at Soldier Field
The U.S. women's soccer team victory tour will arrive at Soldier Field on Oct. 6, the Chicago-based U.S. Soccer Federation announced Thursday.
The United States, which won the World Cup last month, will play South Korea in the final of five friendlies to celebrate the championship. The game will be televised on ESPN at 1 p.m. that day.
Tickets will go on sale Aug. 9 at ussoccer.com.
The national team includes four Chicago Red Stars: goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, midfielders Julie Ertz and Morgan Brian, and defender Tierna Davidson.
The Chicago match will be the final game with the national team for coach Jill Ellis, who announced this week her decision to step down. Ellis coached at the University of Illinois in the late 1990s.
