Palatine PD Boosters hosting golf outing

The nonprofit Palatine PD Boosters will host a golf fundraiser next month.

Set for Sept. 6, the outing will be at the Hilldale Golf Club in Hoffman Estates. Along with golf, there will be late-afternoon cocktails and a dinner with an awards presentation and raffle.

Cost is $125 per golfer or $500 for a foursome. It'll be $60 for those who just want to attend the dinner.

Registration forms and additional details are available by emailing Vince Najdowski at golfevent@palatinepdboosters.org. The registration deadline is Aug. 26.

All proceeds will benefit the Palatine PD Boosters, organizers said. Graduates from the Palatine Citizen Police Academy started the nonprofit booster organization shortly after completing the course in late 2017.

In its short time, the nonprofit has provided Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to department employees working those days and assisted authorities in a prescription drug take-back program outside police headquarters in October. Its goals include providing support and manpower at police-sponsored events, helping with community outreach and organizing recreational outings for officers and their families.

Meanwhile, organizers said strong community interest has led to continued sales of blue-and-white yard signs backing Palatine police. Featuring a blue badge in the middle, the sign reads: "We Support The Palatine PD. Thank You For Your Service."

Signs are available for $10 during standard weekday business hours at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road in the village. At least 500 signs were sold in advance of National Police Week in May.
