• Three rings, two necklaces and $500 were stolen about 1 p.m. July 19 after a man claiming to work for the city of Elgin showed up at a house on the 11N0-99 block of Gale Street near Elgin to supposedly set an appointment for tree trimming. The man abruptly left when his cellphone began ringing. The victim believes an accomplice entered the house and stole the money and jewelry, valued at $3,000.

• A resident of the 37W500 block of Mills Court near St. Charles reported a case of identity theft at 9:30 a.m. Saturday after learning $2,000 had been withdrawn from bank accounts in four transactions without permission.

• A PlayStation 4, Xbox One, an Amazon Alexis and assorted games, a total estimated value of $1,500, were reported stolen at 10:26 a.m. Friday by a resident of the 38W600 block of Bonnie Court near St. Charles. The items were last seen during a move June 20, the report said.

• A resident of the 0S900 block of Spring Green Way near Batavia reported a case of identity theft at 6:30 p.m. July 24 after running a credit report and seeing $6,239 in charges on a Verizon account that he never opened.
