Bartlett woman charged after toddler found alone in street

Bartlett police Saturday arrested a 33-year-old woman on a charge of endangering the life or health of a child, the second time she's been accused of the offense this year, authorities said.

Danielle M. Du Melle of Bartlett was arrested after officers were dispatched to the area of Ladysmith Road and Valleyview Drive at about 10 a.m. Saturday, when a neighbor discovered a female toddler in the middle of the road.

Officers attempted to make contact with the girl's parent, but nobody appeared to be at her residence. Du Melle arrived later and was arrested. It's alleged she left her child home alone for approximately two hours, police said.

Du Melle was taken to the DuPage County jail in Wheaton and was ordered held on a $20,000 bail bond.

Her next court date in the case is set for Aug. 26.

She previously was arrested by Bartlett police March 23 on the same charge, authorities said.
