Hoffman Estates to celebrate 60th anniversary Sept. 21

The official celebration of Hoffman Estates' 60th anniversary will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Sears Centre Arena.

The event will feature free admission and parking, kids' games, food, beverages, live music, prizes, a silent auction and other activities.

You can get in on the fun today by decorating a 60th anniversary bag game (also known as cornhole). For $50 (tax deductible), you can pick up an assembled, undecorated bag game at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

The artistic theme is "Happiest in Hoffman Estates - Celebrating 60 Years." Decorate your bag game with this theme and return it by Thursday, Aug. 15. The decorated games will be auctioned off at the celebration.

Proceeds will go to the Hoffman Estates Self-Help Fund to assist residents in need.

Special 60th anniversary T-shirts are available for $8 or $10, depending on size.
