Railroad crossing near Mundelein to close temporarily

The Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway crossing at Gilmer Road south of Midlothian Road near Mundelein will be closed most of this week, starting at 6 a.m. Monday. The crossing should reopen Friday afternoon. The Canadian National Railroad plans to resurface the crossing. Drivers should take Midlothian Road, Route 83 and Diamond Lake Road as a detour. Local traffic will be allowed on Gilmer Road on either side of the tracks, but not over the tracks.
