Lake Geneva woman charged with robbing Antioch Taco Bell sentenced to probation

A 21-year-old Lake Geneva woman who was charged in March with taking money from an Antioch Taco Bell and demanding money from an employee at an Antioch Culver's five days later pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted aggravated robbery.

Delores R. Hillary will serve 24 months of probation and 100 hours of community service as part of the plea deal. She was also ordered not to have any contact with the Culver's in Antioch.

Antioch police said Hillary went behind the counter of the Taco Bell on Route 173 around 10:40 p.m. March 17 and took money from the cash register but had fled by the time officers arrived,

While investigating the Taco Bell theft, police determined the same woman had previously tried to take money from cash registers at a Culver's three miles away, according to reports.

Five days later, employees of the Culver's called 911 because the woman had returned, police said. When officers arrived at 8:04 p.m., Hillary was sitting at a table with a pellet gun tucked into her waistband. She had just given the cashier a note demanding money when officers arrived, according to police.

Antioch police discovered Hillary had been driven to the Culver's by a friend, Joseph Shaffer, whom they found in his car in the parking lot, according to reports. Hillary and Shaffer were both taken into custody.

Shaffer was in Lake County jail until June 17 when he pleaded guilty to theft and was released with 172 days served, according to Lake County state's attorney's office spokesman Lee Filas.

As part of the plea deal, Hillary is not to have any contact with Shaffer.
