Man stabbed in Elgin Friday

Elgin police are investigating a Friday afternoon stabbing, officials said.

Police and fire departments were called just after 4:30 p.m. to the 200 block of S. State Street, where they found a 39-year-old man with a stab wound, according a post on the Elgin Police Department's Facebook page. The man was taken to Amita Health St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he is being treated for injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Witness statements helped police identify a person of interest, whom the victim knows, and that person has been found and taken to the police department, according to the Facebook post.
