Citizen police academy in Round Lake

Round Lake police are accepting applications for the citizen police academy session starting Aug. 21. The 10 week, two-hour block will include information dealing with every facet of being a police officer from drug/gang intelligence, to homicide investigations to DUI traffic stops. Field trips and hands-on scenarios will be part of the program to be held every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the police station, 741 W. Town Line Road. Applications are due by Aug. 19 and are available at the station or www.eroundlake.com.
