Let's salvage usable material from homes

There are a number of homes on the east side of Weiland Road between Pauline and Newton roads that are going to be demolished to make way for expansion of Weiland Road.

I am very concerned about what will be done with the building material once it is destroyed. As an environmentally-conscious Buffalo Grove resident, I strongly feel before they go into a landfill, parts of the homes (doors, windows, cabinets, etc.) could be reused to help build/update existing homes of families who are struggling financially.

I also feel LCDOT should be required to recycle as much remaining material as possible before it goes into a landfill. Whenever such improvements have an impact on our environment and when some of the materials can be reused for other families, we need to hold them accountable for disposing of these materials in a responsible, environmentally friendly way.

I think ALL future plans should include plans for how the items will be disposed of.
