Aurora plant's fire closes roads

A structure fire has destroyed the Aurora Metal Recycling plant at the 600 block of Spruce Street and Highland Avenue in Aurora.

The fire, which was first reported by Aurora police began around 4:30 p.m and led to the closure of both roads and traffic delays throughout the area.

Police have recommended Elmwood Drive and Lake Street as alternate routes for travellers.

As of 8 p.m., Spruce Street remained closed, authorities said.
