Wesley UMC to host sing-along 'Wizard of Oz' July 21

Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will host a sing-along viewing of the classic film "The Wizard of Oz" on Sunday, July 21.

The event begins at 4 p.m. with a costume contest before the movie. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the movie.

A suggested donation of $2 or $1 for age 12 or under will be collected at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Wesley, whose outreach programs include a school supply collection for Hill Elementary, collections for the Interfaith Food Pantry and the Soup Kitchen at Hesed House.

Organizers promoted the event as they marched in Aurora's second annual Pride Parade with cards inviting guests to "Come over the rainbow with Wesley."

"The sing-along Wizard of Oz will be a fun event for all ages," said Kate Purl, a member of Wesley UMC's fundraising committee, which is sponsoring the event. "All are welcome at Wesley."
