Forest board to meet Wednesday near Wauconda

The Lake County Forest Preserve District board on Wednesday will hold its first meeting since the controversial cancellation of the Civil War Days re-enactment.

The meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Forest Preserve's Shelter E, 27277 N. Forest Preserve Drive. The rare, outdoor meeting will be open to the public.

Civil War Days was canceled because of security fears prompted by an earlier move to cancel the event over racial and historical concerns.
