6 adults, 2 children escape house fire in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (AP) - Six adults and two children have escaped from an early morning house fire in northeastern Indiana.

WANE-TV reports that the fire started about 1 a.m. Friday in New Haven.

The people inside the house fled the home before firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke coming from the garage area.

Fire officials say the blaze likely started in or near the garage before spreading to the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
