How to help homeless vets at Arlington Heights Fourth of July parade

During the Fourth of July parade in Arlington Heights, First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights will collect household items for veterans who were recently homeless.

The church partners with the Veterans Exiting Homelessness organization, which provides donated move-in essential basics for veterans who just moved into empty apartments.

The church, located along the parade route at 302 N. Dunton Ave., will have a table set up inside from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday to collect the donations. Requested items include soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, shower curtains, toilet paper, plungers, garbage bags, laundry detergent, aluminum foil, pampers and gift cards.
