The Kirk Players to put on 'Kirk Comedy Capers' March 20

The Kirk Players will present "Kirk Comedy Capers," its annual children's production, Saturday, March 20. The production consists of six short comedy sketches, all performed by preteen and teen actors.

The six sketches present a variety of comedic situations. In "Spies 'R' Us," four spies meet to save the world from their archenemy Anaconda.

How hard can it be to get a plain cup of coffee at the drive-through window? Find out in "Regular Schmegular."

"Rocket Man" finds a lonely robot falling in love with a returning astronaut. "Ryan's Fans" are three teenage girls who wait at the stage door for their idol.

In "Marion vs. Marion," two girls face off against each other as they audition for the same lead role in the school play. "Time Reporting" uses time travel to present news reports on what happened on this day through the ages.

Cast members, who range in age from 9 to 15, are Lorelai Allison, Luella Billock, Morgan Brown, Gabriela Callan, James DiBella, Graham Earich, Steven Galuska, Evelyn Gotschewski, Camryn Hodges, Mara Nold, Nayumi Nakayama, Nathan O'Neill, Sawyer Parks and Sydney Vignocchi.

Director Patrick Blake finds working with the younger performers is always a joy. He tries to teach them things about theater, he says, "but I also learn so much from them. They are so enthusiastic and creative, as well as technically savvy. Even in early rehearsals, the actors are adding little things that we will keep in the show."

This free, online production will be performed live at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, and air on the Kirk Players YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/c/kirkplayers1966.

While the performance is free, donations are appreciated.
