Palatine Township Elementary District 15 summer projects in full swing

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 has roughly $5 million in summer construction work that's in full swing.

One of the top projects involves safety improvements to main entrances to several schools. Systems are being installed at five of 11 buildings so visitors must be buzzed in from the outside before entering. The vestibules of Virginia Lake, Carl Sandburg, Plum Grove, Kimball Hill and Hunting Ridge are currently being reconstructed to create the controlled-access entryways.

Similar construction at Sundling, Marion Jordan, Central Road, Lincoln, Paddock and Whiteley will occur in 2020. District 15 officials said all 20 schools will have controlled entrances for visitors after the project is completed next year.

Other summer work across the district includes partial roof repairs at Sundling and replacement of playground equipment and stage drapes at Conyers Learning Academy, Jane Addams and Marion Jordan.
