Stop the national popular vote scheme
I don't believe that people actually want to eliminate the Electoral College with the National Popular Vote scheme. The National Popular Vote (NPV) scheme's excuse is that every vote doesn't count in the presidential election using the Electoral College (which is false). So, instead of outright eliminating the Electoral College, the states agree to assign all of their electoral votes to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.
So the people running the scheme want true democracy or mob rule. The candidates will only campaign in heavily populated states on the coasts.
The Electoral College was created to give a voice to the less populated states. Right now, every vote does count within your state. Right now, the system is set up like baseball. The winning team is decided by how many games are won. If we change the system, the baseball champion will be determined by how many hits the team made.
This makes no sense. Study some history. The Founding Fathers set up the Electoral College to give every state a voice - even the small states. NPV is a scheme to get around the Constitutional amendment process and will change the very nature of our republic without changing the Constitution. I would rather rely on the wisdom of the Founding Fathers than the foolishness of the NPV scheme.
