Decades in prison for man who killed Indianapolis clerk

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to killing an Indianapolis store clerk during a robbery in 2014 has been sentenced to 52 years in prison.

Desi Thomas Jr. also faces a five-year placement with Marion County Community Corrections. He appeared in court Friday, about three weeks after his guilty plea.

The prosecutor's office says Thomas entered Joe's Junction, pointed a gun at 45-year-old Harry Briggs, demanded money and fired three shots. Security video showed him skipping away from the store.

Prosecutor Terry Curry says Thomas accepted responsibility for the "senseless killing."
