New drug treatment facility

The Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation will open Lake County Connections, as part of a post-treatment network for individuals and families, on Friday, June 28, at 7 p.m. at 210 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. The second-floor space features a 75-inch flat screen T.V. lounge, a state-of-the-art computer room and library room. It will host guest speakers, food from local restaurants, special activities and social outings. Gail Katz, one of the Save-A-Star founders, said it is a safe place for recovering addicts to get support from other recovering addicts as well as from various government and community resources, hear expert speakers from the recovery world on emerging trends in addiction and recovery that will give them hope for their future, and provide social and recreational services. To make donations to support Save A Star, or for information, visit www.SAVEASTAR.org or call (847) 579-1300 ext. 146.
