High-ranking Barrington employee leaving for Orland Park

Greg Summers is departing Barrington after 11 years in a village career that began with him as director of engineering and building.

Summers, who's been director of development services for the past six years, will become assistant village manager in Orland Park beginning July 15. He attended his final Barrington village board meeting Monday night.

"Thank you, Greg, our town is definitely better off for all that you have done. We will very much miss you and wish you the very best," said Trustee Jennifer Wondrasek, who was among the board members to congratulate Summers.

He said working in Barrington "has really refined my listening skills, always keeping me grounded to the residents and businesses of the community."

Summers served as Buffalo Grove's associate village planner from 2001 to 2005.
