Born but unwanted: A pro-life transition

How can a society transition from almost 50 years of legal abortion on demand? Mothers in the USA abort over one million babies each year. Now what will happen if "overnight" abortion becomes illegal? We must prepare for this coming transition.

It is reasonable to assume those one million babies will not only be unwanted, but when born will be in the care of their mothers who were willing to kill them. The "unwanted" will certainly be at risk. These mothers, perhaps, will have an attitude of: "You forced me to carry this baby to term, I would have aborted him/her, you made it illegal, now this baby is your problem ... not mine.!"

So if and when abortion becomes illegal, what do we do with the one million babies born each year into unwanted arms and high-risk living conditions? Is our society prepared to deal with this coming change?

Foster care? Adoption? Orphanages? Government managed nurseries? Aid for women? Religious/charitable organizations? How about shifting tax dollars from the abortion industry to the pregnancy care centers industry?

Well ... it's much easier to see the problem than to solve the problem. But if the pro-life movement succeeds, and I hope it does, there will be a transition period, and we must be prepared.
