Hoffman Estates historian to be parade marshal

With the village of Hoffman Estates celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the grand marshal of the Fourth of July Parade will be Village Historian Pat Barch. This year's parade will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, and proceed along Illinois Boulevard in the village.

Barch became village historian in the late '90s and began writing a monthly column, the Historian's Notebook, about 2006. She has been a member of the Hoffman Estates Museum's board since it opened in March 2004.

Barch, who moved to Hoffman Estates in May 1965, is also vice president of the Schaumburg Township Historical Society. As chairman, she produced the Illinois 200th Anniversary Historic Township Bus Tour in partnership with the Schaumburg Township District Library and Schaumburg Township.
