Interfaith council gears up for iWalk Sunday in Buffalo Grove
The Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council is hosting its annual iWalk 5K to benefit hungry families in the community this weekend.
Registration begins at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, in the parking lot of St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove. The walk begins there at 2 p.m.
The walk will proceed to Hope Lutheran Church, 1660 Checker Road in Long Grove, where marchers will take a break to enjoy music and food before heading back to St. Mary.
Richard Rosen, vice president of the interfaith council, was at Monday's Buffalo Grove village board meeting to promote the event, which benefits four local food pantries.
With summer break under way, it is an opportune time to raise funds to benefit children who receive free or reduced lunches during the school year, Rosen said.
"The interfaith council is something that makes Buffalo Grove a really unique community, where we all come together from different faiths to do really good deeds like this," said Buffalo Grove Trustee Joanne Johnson, a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
