Keeps Stars and Stripes flying with Elgin VFW's American Pride Project

The 300 block of Orchard Street is all decked out for Flag Day. Thanks to the Watch City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1307 and Auxiliary and their current American Pride Project fundraiser.

Volunteers will install a temporary, 10-foot flagpole with a 3-by-5-foot flag in a yard in Elgin or South Elgin.

Order your subscription, only $30 for three national holidays: Fourth of July, Patriot Day (Sept. 11) and Veterans Day (Nov. 11). American flags were also put up on Memorial Day

The post holds its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. If it is a federal holiday, the meetings are on the second Monday.

They are currently meeting in the backroom of Hoopers Bar and Grill, 975 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin.

Post 1307 is proud to have a vibrant and active auxiliary. The auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month at Elgin Fire Station No. 6, 707 W. Chicago St. in Elgin.
