RATIONAL USA Welcomes Local High School Students into Kitchen

Students participating in the national ProStart program prepare for a professional career in the hospitality industry following secondary school graduation. Upon completing their cooking methods curriculum, the culinary students at Rolling Meadows High School taught by 2015 Illinois ProStart Educator of the year, Kimmi Krupicka, visited the North American headquarters of RATIONAL. The RATIONAL USA corporate chef team was delighted to welcome the students to their commercial kitchen.

"These culinary students are the future of the industry," said Billy Buck, national corporate chef for RATIONAL USA. "It's an honor to introduce these students to combi technology and provide them with some practical culinary experience and advice."

After introducing students to the world of RATIONAL, all five RATIONAL Corporate Chefs opened the floor to questions about their culinary backgrounds and career experiences. During the hands-on application portion of their visit, the students practiced their culinary skills. The group created a comfort food menu, prepared pasta sauces by taste and sharpened their knife skills by trimming steaks.

"It's great having the students visit the kitchen," says Buck. "Seeing the excitement in their eyes rekindles the excitement we all had when entering this industry."

"As company of chefs for chefs, RATIONAL is committed to supporting culinary education and training programs that prepare students for rewarding careers in the foodservice industry," added Markus Glueck, executive vice president of RATIONAL North America. "RATIONAL employs more than 1000 chefs around the world, and it's our pleasure to introduce culinary students to our company and possible career pathways."
