Elgin hosts Fur Pet's Sake expo and clinic June 15

Fur Pet's Sake: Elgin's Expo and Vaccination Clinic is a new event this year, taking place on Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kimball Middle School, 451 N. McLean Blvd. in Elgin.

This event, replacing the previous Pet Expo and Health and Safety events, will provide a new location with a lot more activities to entertain the entire family (those with fur and without).

The Pet Expo portion of the event is open to all, residents and non-residents. Pets must be leashed.

Entertainment and activities include: a meet and greet with Elgin Police K-9s, dog trick demonstrations, pet agility course, dog portraits, $5 nail trims for pets, door prizes, balloon animals, children's activities, food trucks, and police and fire vehicles.

There will be dozens of pet vendors representing: animal rescues, boarding/training facilities, grooming salons and pet supply companies.

The vaccination clinic portion the event is available to pets of Elgin residents only. The clinic is cash only.

The $50 vaccination package includes rabies, canine distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus and para influenza; $40 rabies-only vaccination; $35 microchipping; and $25 heartworm test. There are low-cost spay and neuter coupons.
