Community Character Coalition Recognizes Exceptional Volunteers

During its June 4, 2019 general meeting, the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove recognized two exceptional women from the Elk Grove VFW Ladies Auxiliary for their service work. Lorry Christensen and Lillian (Dolly) Mayer have a combined 110 years of service to the Auxiliary!

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary works to improve the lives of veterans and active duty service members in our community and beyond. Among their many accomplishments, Lorry has been responsible for coordinating a number of special events at area veterans hospitals and Lillian has organized the Voice of Democracy at the local and state levels for 45 years.

The Community Character Coalition's mission is to promote the Six Pillars of Character Counts! through education, volunteerism and recognition. The Coalition recognized Lorry Christensen and Lillian Mayer as role models for the Character Counts! Pillars of Caring and Citizenship.
