Learning and fun at First Congregational Church June 16

Learning and fun highlight the events at First Congregational Church in Elgin this Sunday, June 16.

The learning begins with the worship services which explore just who and what is meant by God. A "Discovery Time" educational event at 9 a.m. will invite participants to ask what they owe and expect from one another as part of the church covenant.

First Congregational Church is from the "covenantal'"tradition of Protestant Christianity where members do not conform to a creed but covenant to live their faith together. Such covenants need to be re-examined periodically and this is such a time for this church.

The fun includes a bird watching expedition at 2 p.m. when participants will learn how to "go birding" and discover the riches of the world around them.

First Congregational Church is located at 256 E. Chicago St. in Elgin. Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. All are welcome.

The Rev. Michael Montgomery and Rev. Lois Bucher serve as pastors.
