8-year-old boy killed crossing northern Indiana street
WARSAW, Ind. (AP) - Police in northern Indiana say an 8-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street near an elementary school.
The Warsaw Police Department says the boy who was hit about 1:45 p.m. Monday was attending summer school. The boy was being taken to a Fort Wayne hospital but the ambulance diverted to a Columbia City hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the boy was in the crosswalk when he was hit by the car outside Harrison Elementary School in the city about 40 miles northwest of Fort Wayne. The crash involving a 24-year-old driver remained under investigation.
