Sticking up for rights

The Daily Herald recently ran an opinion piece about a reporter who would not divulge the source of his information. Ten police five hours. The Daily Herald felt that this was an encroachment on the reporter's First Amendment rights.

The Daily Herald should also be more cognizant of other people who are having their rights restricted by the government. Where is the Herald when this happens? All rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution are important to everyone. Just like the case of this reporter, you may not like the person, but you should respect their rights, which are guaranteed by the Constitution.

In addition, it is especially egregious when the Daily Herald uses its First Amendment rights and its position to work against somebody else's Constitutional rights. Without being a watchdog for all of the rights, they will soon fail to protect us. Our rights will only be a distant memory.
