"We all love to sing," said Chicago Swedish Glee Club president Richard Englund. The choral group comes from all over the Chicago area, and from many ethnic backgrounds, and their repertoire includes a mix of patriotic American songs, lighthearted Swedish folk tunes, and a few well-known classics. The chorus was originally organized in 1869 to preserve Scandinavian song and as an insurance program to pay "sick benefits" for its members, but today's members are all ages and just enjoy getting together to sing and entertain. According to group historian, Don Lamont, "We'd be glad to add new members to the Glee Club anytime."

Join a casual fun evening of music while munching free Dairy Queen Dilly Bars. The popular Chicago Swedish Glee Club will perform while you play Victorian era games, Croquet and Hoops and Graces, or just sit back, enjoy your ice cream and listen to the beautiful harmonizing of the Chicago Swedish Glee Club. Note that you pick up your DQ coupon, courtesy of the Dairy Queen on Main Street, at the Lombard Historical Society and take it to DQ to redeem for your free Dilly Bar.

Mark your calendar for the remaining 2019 Ice Cream Social Concerts: Ukulele Singalong on June 19 and 26; Rick Pickern on July 10; programs are still unconfirmed - check our website for updates - for July 17, 24 and Aug. 7; and Mighty Joe Beatty on Aug. 14. Both the Victorian Cottage and Peck Homestead host activities and groups and are open for tours several days a week.
