Pitching matchups: The Cubs' Kyle Hendricks (5-4) vs. Jeff Hoffman (1-1) Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.; Yu Darvish (2-3) vs. German Marquez (6-2) Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.; Jose Quintana (4-4) vs. Jon Gray (5-4) Thursday at 1:20 p.m.

At a glance: The two teams will meet six times over the next week, with series in Chicago and Denver. The Rockies, who had Monday off, are hot. They have won eight in a row but entered Monday 9 games behind the Dodgers in the National League West. Colorado is 13-15 away from Coors Field, and the team ERA of 4.97 is last in the NL. Nolan Arenado has a line of .345/.395/.638 with 16 homers and 52 RBI. Trevor Story is at .293/.360/.556 with 15 homers and 42 RBI. Outfielder Charlie Blackmon (calf) and closer Wade Davis (oblique) both are on the injured list, but Blackmon could be back this week. The Cubs entered Monday second in the NL in on-base percentage. Their team ERA of 3.90 was third in the league.
