Take a Bite Out of Hunger For Local Unaccompanied Homeless Youth

Libertyville VW Credit, Inc. (VCI) employees treated their team to a volunteer experience at Fill a Heart 4 Kids to help support FAH4K's Survival BacPacs 4 Kids™program

VCI sponsored 50 Survival BacPacs™ filled with essential survival items - from non-perishable food to toiletries. A team of 30 employees volunteered their time to assemble the backpacks and write heartfelt notes of encouragement to homeless teens supported by Fill a Heart 4 Kids™. The afternoon continued with the volunteers creating St. Patrick's Day-themed Happy Candy Banners to decorate local safe sites for homeless kids that are open from 9am to 5pm daily. At these safe sites kids can do homework, work with case managers to find employment, and rest and shower before they have to leave at 5pm. Most of these kids have nowhere to sleep at night. The banners were filled with jokes and candy to help these kids escape from their daily reality with a simple and fun experience.

VCI and Fill a Heart 4 Kids partnered last year and through Volkswagen's generous efforts FAH4K deliver 5,000 meals to local homeless youth.
