Shooting, crash leaves 2 dead in suburban Chicago
HARVEY, Ill. (AP) - Two people are dead from a suburban Chicago shooting and later gun battle between occupants of two vehicles.
The Chicago Tribune reports that police responded late Thursday to shots fired in Harvey and that the vehicles drove away when officers arrived.
Shots were exchanged between both vehicles. A person was ejected from one of the vehicles that struck a pole. It was not immediately clear if that person died from the crash or suffered gunshot wounds.
Police chased the second vehicle which also crashed. The driver and passengers ran from the wreck.
Officers later found the body of the first victim at the original shooting site. He had been shot multiple times.
Two other people also were shot and were being treated at hospitals.
