Arlington Heights police nab 136 drivers for not wearing seat belts
Arlington Heights police issued 136 tickets to drivers not wearing seat belts and 21 citations for those using cellphones while driving during a recent 19-day period.
The department's Memorial Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign took place May 10-28, which included seat belt enforcement zones, roving DUI saturation patrols and a roadside safety checkpoint.
Police also issued tickets for 53 equipment violations, 20 registration-related violations, 16 failure to secure a child in a safety seat infractions, 12 speeding offenses, 10 driver's license related offenses, and one uninsured motorist.
A similar enforcement campaign is planned for the July 4 holiday.
