Man gets 25 years for holding gun to woman's head
GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - A 25-year prison sentence has been handed a northern Illinois man who was holding a gun to a woman's head when he called her children into the room.
Kane County prosecutors say Chad W. Conway told the children to come watch their mother die. The 40-year-old Conway of Roscoe was convicted in 2017 of possession of a weapon by a felon and being an armed habitual criminal.
Prosecutors alleged Conway in 2015 went to a Carpentersville home and placed a revolver and cash on the woman's kitchen table. The woman put the gun in a drawer, told Conway to leave after taking $20. Conway retrieved the gun and fired it twice before it to the woman's head. The woman called police when Conway finally left.
Kane County Associate Judge Linda Abrahamson sentenced Conway on Tuesday. Prosecutors say Conway will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
