Police: Aggravated battery Sunday night in Elgin

A man is in the hospital after reportedly being involved in a physical altercation Sunday night in Elgin, officials said.
The man was walking around 10:12 p.m. in the 600 block of Villa Street when he had an altercation with two individuals, police said. The altercation became physical and the man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police spokeswoman Kristi Hilton declined to say if officials established whether the man knew the individuals involved, citing the ongoing investigation.
The major investigations division is asking anyone with information to call (847) 289-2600 or to text a tip, send a message to 847411 and include ELGINPD in the beginning of the text, along with the message and/or tip information.
