Lake Zurich Farmers Market opens June 7

The Lake Zurich Farmers Market begins its 2019 season at 3 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Paulus Park, 200 South Rand Road.

The market will run every Friday, rain or shine, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Aug. 9. It hosts more than 25 vendors, and each week features Animal Education Rescue showcasing local animals in need of adoption, as well as a rotating schedule of live musical acts, children's activities, artisans, and community service organizations.

The market supports and encourages organic and sustainable growing practices by bringing local farmers and vendors to Lake Zurich. All the vegetable farmers participating are located within 200 miles.

In addition to locally grown produce, market vendors sell fresh baked goods, fruit, meat, eggs, salsas, sauces, oils, cheese, organic soaps and cleaners, fresh lemonade and honey.

Returning to the market this year will be the kid's yard sale day on June 14. Participation in the yard sale requires preapproval.

Also each week, the market provides educational and fundraising opportunities for local community service and not-for-profits groups. Participating groups do not pay a vendor fee and are allowed to keep 100% of their profits. Interested organizations can contact the market manager.

Visit LakeZurich.org for participating farmers and vendors and a schedule of musical acts and programming.
