Points to ponder from columnist
Kathleen Parker's closing lines of her column on the abortion debate last week reflected what I have been thinking about for some time: "how acceptance of destroying the pre-born has affected our humanity."
It seems to have made us a hardened society with little respect for life. Consider school and workplace shootings which have become commonplace. Aggressive driving, road rage, disrespect for authority of all kinds. Behavior which was once considered unacceptable has become sanctioned by our laws. Ms. Parker's second closing thought is haunting: "how many of the over 60 million Americans aborted since 1973 were destined to shape a better world." Who among this legion of aborted souls might have cured cancer, alleviated poverty and hunger, solved climate change, etc. No matter which side of the abortion debate one is on, it makes one wonder.
