Efforts were needed to fight drug abuse

Recent coverage of the activist billboard causes me to write this missive. Had the time, energy and money used by this group to create this billboard been available and used to help Decynthia overcome her drug use, none of this activism would have resulted.

Instead, police were required to de-escalate a crisis situation created by Decynthia's actions and abuses. To now blame the police for her actions is hypocrisy at its worst. She is not a hero and the police are not criminals.

Perhaps if the time, effort and monies were now used to help others by preventing drug abuse, the activists would be helping society rather than criticizing it. It is always much easier to criticize than it is to be correct.

Thank you, Elgin PD, for being one of the best in the nation.
