Elgin's First Congregational to remember war dead at May 26 services
First Congregational Church of Elgin will remember people of our church and family who died in our nation's service in times of war at its worship services this Sunday, May 26, at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m.
The church, the oldest in Elgin, has had sons and daughters die since the Civil War. In time of prayer those who died will be named and a bell tolled.
"So often Memorial Day is simply a day off" explained Senior Minister Michael Montgomery, "We want to remember and honor those who died for us."
The church is located at 256 East Chicago Street in Elgin.
