State urgently needs to change tax system

After four years of irresponsible governance under the previous administration, Illinois needs to act quickly to fix the mistakes that have left us in a budget hole to the tune of $3.2 billion. If we don't, we will continue to face a crumbling infrastructure, underfunded schools in the state and an exodus of residents leaving to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The proposed Fair Tax is our best option to address the budget crisis now, while making the tax system work for all of us, not just the wealthy few. Under a Fair Tax, 97% of us would not see any increase in income tax, while only those of us making $250,000 or more would pay more.

A Fair Tax brings desperately needed revenue into Illinois. This money could go toward funding services that have been crippled by our extensive budget crises. Mental Health. Meals on Wheels. School programs and scholarship opportunities. Fixing our dangerous bridges.

I hope we can count on both Rep. Mussman and Sen. Murphy to support the Fair Tax. It's the best way to get our state back on track while helping working and middle-class families like ours here in Schaumburg to succeed.
