Baseball: Jachec fans 13, pitches Hampshire to victory

Matthew Jachec pitched the Whip-Purs to victory, lasting 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 13 batters and walking none.

Cameron Steinmetz took the loss for Dundee-Crown (5-27), throwing 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs while striking out two and walking one.

St. Charles North 14, Marmion 4: Patrick Bellock drove in 4 runs on 3 hits to lead St. Charles North (23-9) past Marmion on Thursday. Bellock drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the third, and a double in the fourth.

Michael Spotts earned the win for the North Stars, surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits over 3 innings, striking out one. Jackson Best went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Marmion (8-15) in hits, and Eric Lundell suffered the loss for the Cadets.

CL South 5, Jacobs 3: The Golden Eagles (15-20) lost a heartbreaker, giving up a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh off a double from Evan Jewson.

Nick Gorken and Jewson each had 2 hits to lead the Gators' offense. Anthony Wilson was on the mound for Jacobs, throwing 5⅓ innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out five.

Nick DiBenedetto got the win for CL South (20-10), lasting 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs while striking out one and walking one.
