Boys track and field: St. Viator's Huelskamp wins sectional shot, discus titles

St. Viator junior Athan Huelskamp won both the shot put and discus throws Wednesday night at the Class 2A Woodstock North boys track and field sectional, sending him to next weekend's state finals at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Huelskamp won the shot with a throw of 55 feet, 11½ inches and the discus in 163-08.

Lions sophomore Jeremiah Pittman also qualified for state in the shot by finishing second with a throw of 45-5¼.

St. Viator also qualified junior Patric Natindim, who was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.93 as well as junior Jason Donald in the 1,600 run with a time of 4:40.19, which was good for second place.

The Lions finished fourth in the sectional as a team with 64 points. Host Woodstock North won the team championship with 105 points.
